Technology Instructor
Leader Dogs for the Blind
Rochester, MI
Duties: This position is responsible for providing instruction and ongoing support to consumers who are blind and visually impaired in the technology services department. This position will analyze, develop, and implement instructional processes for the technology services department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops structures and measures for technology services curriculum.
- Identifies industry standards for outcomes and ensures ongoing relevancy of course material and delivery.
- Instructs consumers who are blind and visually impaired in technology services.
- Provides ongoing training support for consumers via field visits and phone consultations.
- Manages technology consumer issues related to product software and hardware, responsible for resolution and proper documentation of issues.
- Researches and identifies industry and technological trends and emerging technologies for use in delivering mobility services to the blind and visually impaired.
- Maintains all equipment and software in computer lab and areas that consumers have access to computers.
- Maintains written and computer records according to established procedures for extended services.
- Participates in admissions meetings to evaluate new and reapplying applicants.
- Provides support on program education (public relations, procurement of resources, etc.) as needed.
- Assists with all IT / Technology training classes as needed.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field required and Microsoft Office Specialist Certificate strongly preferred. One to three years previous experience with IT Support and Assistive Technology instruction preferred. Education related to Assistive Technology, Rehabilitation Teaching and Master’s degree preferred. An equivalent combination of experience, education and aptitude may be considered.
