Teacher for the Visually Impaired
Humble ISD

Duties: Provide direct services to visually impaired students, consult with staff, conduct evaluations, write reports, attend IEP and other meetings,consult with parents, interface with agency providers, attend staff meetings, attend training, collaborate with other professionals, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: BA or BS degree or higher and certification/endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. Special Education certification preferred, but not required. Experience with teaching students who are visually impaired preferred. The teacher must demonstrate knowledge in functional vision and learning media evaluations. Must be able to teach Braille and knowledgeable of assistive technology and software appropriate for VI students. The teacher must be able to work with a team of other VI and O&M professionals. The teacher must work well with families and support staff. The teacher must be able to travel between campuses on a daily basis.
