ILS Instructor
Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind
Riverdale, MD
Duties: Provide ILS instruction to adult clients at an ILS center with follow up at the individual’s home. Plan, implements and evaluates appropriate ILS, primarily to blind and visually impaired adults. Conducts in-service training programs for agency staff and other agencies and organization in the community. Works with case manager, counselors and low vision specialist to provide services to individuals with visual impairment or blindness. Prepares monthly statistics and reports on the number of students seen for services, student’s progress and other relevant reports. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: BA/BS in special education, social work, or psychology, and 2 yrs experience required. Knowledge of intellectual disabilities and relevant or similar experience required. Experience in Home management training, and knowledge of visual impairments required. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Computer literacy. Ability to work independently with little supervision.
