O&M Specialist

Duties: For assigned consumers, assess current travel abilities, determine (with the individual) mobility goals, and provide training to blind and visually impaired individuals in methods of independence and safe travel, to the extent of each individual’s abilities and desires.
Qualifications: A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Orientation and Mobility instruction and eligibility for ACVREP certification required. The position is largely itinerant as such successful candidate must have relaible transportation, be eligilbe for and obtain a valid NY driver license, and/or be able to meet the transportation requirements of the position.
Additional Information: The position will be based in Binghamton, NY which is located in the Central Southern Tier region of New York State. Binghamton is about one hour south of Syracuse New York. A.V.R.E.'s service area covers nine New York and three Pennsylvania counties and includes the communities of Oneonta, Ithaca, Elmira in NY. Wages and benefits are very competitive for the area.
