Duties: Evaluate the O&M skills and instructional vision-specific needs of identified students. Serves as lead teacher for academic areas related to visual impairment and develop appropriate individualized educational/treatment plans based on assessments. Provides itinerant classroom instruction in Braille, use of residual vision, adaption of instruction materials and other unique needs of students with visual impairments.
Qualifications: Requires Bachelors Degree in O & M, or closely related field with current ACVREP Certification in O&M and at least two years experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired. Must be knowledgeable in the use of low vision aids, Braille, specialized equipment and devices used by students who are blind.
