Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired

Duties: TVIs provide itinerant services to BOCES member districts. Write FVAs and LMAs, provide relevant accommodations and modifications to students' IEPs, draft measurable goals, keep data on student performance, be familiar with best practices, including evolving RtI procedures, provide direct instruction to VI students and consultative services to students' educational teams. Train students and teams in recommended assistive technologies, teach braille, locate and secure optical, technological, medical and instructional resources, keep accurate mileage and medicaid records, and ensure contracted services are delivered with minimal supervision.
Qualifications: Certification, or ability to obtain certification, in CO as a Teacher of Students with Blindness or Visual Impairment within one year of employment. Ability to pass Colorado state Braille Competency Exam within one year of employment.
