Beyond Arm's Reach: Enhancing Distance Vision (BAR) is a curriculum designed to enhance distance visual efficiency for children with low vision. The major goal of BAR is to assist in maximizing visual potential thorugh understanding and utilizing visual information at a distance. The program is best suited for a child at least beyond the cognitive level of four years. The program consists of four instructional chapters with an evaluation component included within in each lesson. The chapters include

  1. Basic visual motor skills
  2. Basic visual perception: Feature, shape and object identification
  3. Moving through the environment: Position, distance and depth cues
  4. Increasing experiential knowledge through visual exploration in different environments.
